Wessex Truck Gathering

Laura, Ethan and Nikki took a road trip to check out Wessex truck gathering on Saturday 29th March with a stall for the charity. We were missing truck show season and it was the first one we could find, only a 2hr 20min drive away.

We had to stop just outside of Bristol as tyre pressure light flashed up on the car. After

25yrs of driving it was Laura's first time of having to stop on a hard shoulder, a very narrow one at that! Luckily tyre just needed some air so we limped off at the next junction and topped up all four tyres, grabbed a Greggs takeaway (be rude not to when it was next door) and carried on our way with Ethan tucking into a Sausage roll, slice of pizza and a cake, honestly don't know where he puts it all.

We eventually made it to the show ground after getting stuck behind a running event and then a cycle event. The villages we passed through were very beautiful as we avoided the motorway just in case the tyre gave out completely, although Laura is happy to change a tyre we didn't fancy it on the motorway.

We got to the gate and were welcomed by some lovely people, made our apologies for been later than planned and were shown to our spot. We quickly unloaded the car and got set up. The sun was shinning and it looked a promising day.

The show it's self was very well organised and the volunteers were very helpful, they were a little shocked we had driven such a distance for the show, although we hadn't travelled the furthest, the driver opposite the stall was from Manchester.

We spotted a few familiar faces and trucks, Stuart Harvey had a few from the fleet including the T-Cab and we got see Avatar again.

From the stall the highland cows and the Unicorn plushies proved to be the most popular with a dinosaur going to a new home on the dash of truck which we spotted in the convoy.

After the show had finished all the trucks lined up for the finale of the day, the convoy and they didn't disappoint. Again the organisers had planned everything to a tee. We managed to get a good spot just outside the main gate and got see all 141 trucks pull out, horns were blasted and lights were flashed. If you did get to join our live on TikTok I apologise for the floor show, Ethan wanted to film it and kept forgetting he needed to hold the phone up so you could see them all.

Even though it was a really long day we would definitely go again and recommend it for a day out with the family and it is worth stopping till the very end. The locals all went and stood on the bridges waiting for the trucks to pass.

The organisers have announced they raised a massive £8378.84p which is all going to RoadPeace, a charity which was founded in 1992 by Brigitte Chaudhry MBE a bereaved mother whose son was killed by a red light offender. The show was also a fitting tribute to sisters Maddie and Libby North who lost there lives to a speeding car travelling in excess of 100mph in 2023.
