On Sunday 8th March we had a fantastic morning supporting our charity with a brilliant and slightly wacky fundraising idea – “Going Blue for Ethan.”
Mick Green very kindly offered to dye his beard bright blue to help raise money, and we were all excited to see the transformation happen.
Carl, Laura, Ethan, Guy and Sammy met Mick and his partner Tracey at The Hair Lounge in Wednesbury on Walsall Street (opposite Wetherspoons), where the owner Gerry had kindly welcomed us in. Lucy from Barberama in Tipton was also there ready and waiting to help with the big colour change.
The kettle was popped on, tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits were flowing, and the process began.
Because Mick has quite a dark beard, we first had to take it blonde before we could go blue. This meant the process took a little longer, but everyone was in great spirits and enjoying the morning while the transformation took place.
Once the blue colour went on, it was clear the wait had been worth it. The finished result looked fantastic! The lighting in the pictures really doesn’t do it justice – when Mick stepped outside into the daylight the blue was incredibly bright and really stood out.
We’re still receiving donations, but on the day alone we raised £110 in cash, which we are absolutely thrilled with.
It was such a lovely morning, full of laughter and support, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time together while raising money for such an important cause.
A huge thank you goes to Mick for approaching us and offering to go above and beyond to help raise funds. Your support means so much. Another big thank you to Lucy for your time and to Gerry for letting us use your shop.
If you would like to support us and have your own fundraising idea, we would love to hear from you. And remember – the wackier the idea, the better!
