Andy's Man Club

Who Is Andy?

ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 54, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.

Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler are Andy’s Mum and Brother-in-Law, together they came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment.

We met Dan Josh and Keith at Buxfest truck show on the 2nd August 2025. We have heard about the charity recently and we understood what they do but we have never actually met anyone from the charity. After speaking with the guys in more detail and hearing what they have achieved in almost 10 years is phenomenal. They now have over 300 groups and over 5750 members.

ANDYSMANCLUB are a free men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free to attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. We want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation.

The clubs are open to any male over the age of 18. ANDYSMANCLUB has free support groups nationwide, running every Monday from 7PM except bank holidays. In these groups, men can open up about the storms affecting their lives in a safe, judgement-free and non-clinical environment. Our clubs are designed to be free of pressure, there is no obligation for men to speak, they can simply listen if they wish. What is said in the club stays in the club is the motto.

We wish we had known about this group a few years ago as this something very close to our hearts. After Ethan finished his treatment in Dec 21, Ethan's dad Carl went through a rough time trying to process everything that had happened. He was diagnosed with PTSD. Having someone to talk to helped him process these feeling and thoughts and help him to understand what was going on. The counsellors were really good but it was all done over the phone. Having something face to face would of been more beneficial and speaking to others who had gone though similar situations would of been more help. Until you have been in that situation it's really hard to fully understand what you are going through.

Andy's man club mission, put simply, is to prevent other families from going through the heartache and grief caused by suicide, by encouraging men to speak openly about their issues.

If you or anyone you know needs help, please get in touch, I'll share the website link again below or it's free to just turn up to a club in your area on a Monday at 7pm. Don't forget you also get a free brew and biscuits.

Guys, it was a pleasure to meet you at Buxfest and find out more about what you do, keep up the good work.

From Laura and team
